Friday wasn't terribly successful. Joe stood us up, and I didn't manage to get any work done; despite this I still ended up nearly being not ready when the taxi arrived to take me to the station. Mark and I then travelled to Canterbury East, arriving at the King's School in time for a beer before last orders. I went to bed fairly early, although some were up til 2ish. My room had 3 beds in it, each a bunk bed over a desk. The decor clearly showed it to be a girls' house.

I woke up early on Saturday (probably due to a lot of natural light in my room). I took the opportunity to wander up to the cathedral for an 8am communion service in the crypt. I nearly missed the start of the service due to being unable to locate the correct door! There were about 6 people present, and it was a good way to begin the day; I was still one of the earliest arrivals at breakfast! I spent the rest of the day until AGM-time browsing the shops of Canterbury, and taking advantage of my cathedral precincts pass to visit the cathedral. It was very busy, and there was a shortage of quiet places to pray - even the crypt which is meant to be silent was full of the hubbub of voices; in the end the Chapel of Our Lady Martyrdom was at least secluded (and the Sacrament was reserved there).

The AGM was another long one, and quite heated at times. Dinner was good (pate, chicken with mushrooms then a chocolatey roulade), and the speaker (and ensuing discussion) interesting; I think I appreciated talking to him before dinner about Nature (he works there) more personally relevant, however! Afterwards, a subset of the people present retired to the TV lounge in Bailey House; I stayed up only until about half past twelve, at which point my continual tiredness caught up with me, and I went to bed. Today has been unremarkable - I came home, tried to make it less bomb-site-like, and will shortly start cooking dinner (prawns with lime and ginger, Navarin of lamb with spring vegetables, and then a fruit strudel from Tesco).
