Michael Matthews, who has run the excellent coffee (and tea) stall on Cambridge market has retired. But he has sold the business to the Emerald Wholefood stall, and they've taken on all his stock and look to be trying to make a go of running the business. Today was their first day!

They're open 10-4 Tuesday-Friday, and 11-5 on Saturday. They're at the North end (i.e. opposite to the Guildhall) of the second row in from the East side (the East side is the side with Don Pasquale, M&S).

Fans of the coffee stall on the Cambridge market (link to my previous post on opening hours) may be interested to know that he doesn't seem to be open on Thursdays any more - AFAICT he's now Mon-Wed, Fri, Sat.

Not entirely co-incidentally, my coffee supplies are now rather low :(

Today I learned that the following fences etc. are Grade I listed in Cambridge, separately from their relevant buildings:

The railings and gates to Trinity Hall Lane of Clare College
The gateway on the west side of Clare Bridge (and the railings and gates to the college garden)
The fence on the street outside the main frontage of the Fitzwilliam Museum
The Garden walls, railings and gates of Number 16 Jesus Lane (Little Trinity)
The entrance screen to First Court, Peterhouse
The railings, piers, gateway and screen wall on the east side of Principal Court, St Catherine's College
The railings and gates surrounding the Senate House

...that's a lot of listed (but hopefully not listing) fences! Specifically, about 1 in 1000 of all the Grade I Listed Buildings in England are fences in Cambridge...

Last night [livejournal.com profile] atreic fed myself, [livejournal.com profile] rmc28 and [livejournal.com profile] fanf dinner, and then we went to a port tasting at the Bridge St. branch of Cambridge Wine Merchants.
and lo, there was port )
At any rate, I enjoyed it, and thought it was good value for money. I may go to further tastings there :)

I posted earlier about needing an audition piece for my audition tommorow. [livejournal.com profile] megamole suggested (amongst other things), Fili mi, Absolon, by Heinrich Schütz.

So, I look it up on CPDL, and decide it looks plausible. I wander into the UL, find a real paper copy (a tone lower, which was an unexpected bonus), and then amble into town where I find a choice of recordings in Heffers Sound. I buy this one, and feel generally pleased with myself :)
