It seems like ages since I went climbing, so I was very pleased to head off to Peterborough last night to remind myself what a climbing wall looks like. I wasn't exactly on top form, fitness-wise, but that's too be expected, given I've been away and so not cycling quite a lot recently. Still, I did a couple of very stretchy routes, and climbed up a few things where it felt "good", like I knew where I was going rather than just scrambling up. I dismally failed the arrete a couple of times later on (I think I was knackered by that point), and decided it wasn't the week for trying the roof again.

An excellent evening, really, and I feel a little sore rather than in pain today, so I think I pushed myself about the right amount.

We went climbing to Stowmarket tonight, rather than Peterborough, which is the usual Monday-evening climbing venue. I had a really good evening - I managed the red-overhang route which had defeated me last time, actually felt confident doing several routes, and then did better than I thought I would on a game of "discount the holds" - on a 10-hold purple route, I managed to get up using only 4 holds. 3 Eluded me but not [livejournal.com profile] bofhcam. I'm still feeling a bit hyper now. Maybe I should think about shoes and a harness...
